“I wouldn’t keep coming back if it weren’t for the people. The members and the coaches make it all worthwhile. They’ve become family. The encouragement to be fit and healthy is like nothing else I have experienced before.”

Office Worker
I played 3 sports all through high school and have been looking for ways to stay active ever since. I tried adult leagues, roller derby, and other gyms but never quite found anything that filled my need for competition, friendship, fun, and challenged me athletically at the same time.
I found Farmgirlfit by accident. I had been going to a gym and signed up with a personal trainer who was also a Coach with Farmgirlfit, and she told me they offer a free introductory class, if I was interested. I went to that first class and was hooked. It met all the needs I had been searching for since high school.
There are so many. Being able to do a double under, and keeping up with girls 20 years younger than me are the first 2 that come to mind!
Actually being able to get below parallel on my squats. 🙄
I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little bit vain. I want to look good as I get older and still be attractive. For me that means staying fit and active. I also want to be around and active for as long as possible for my daughter.
Timber by Pitbull and any of the 80’s hairbands! 🤘
Favorite: Kettlebell swings, bench press, and push press
Least favorite: Running and burpees
The faster you go, the sooner you will be finished.
I love the things the Coaches say to encourage us, and how they know how to motivate each of us differently. I am a very sarcastic person and they know when to flip it right back. Just this year I have heard:
“Are you color blind?” - When I picked the “wrong” color kettlebell.
“It’s not going to lift itself” - When I was dilly-dallying.
“Is that your warm-up weight?” - When I picked a lighter workout weight.
For 2 ½ years my daughter has watched me work out and has even worked out with me. She has seen me sweat, struggle, overcome and even cry at times. Since the age of 5, it has been a normal part of her life and she wants to join with me when she is old enough. Setting her up for a life of fitness makes it all worth it.
“Be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody.”
Of the person my daughter is growing up to be. She is kind, generous, and humble…3 of the traits I think are most important in life.
Life for me is running from sun up to sundown. When I am not at work or at FGF, I am often taking my daughter to her activities like swimming and cooking. When we do have those free moments, I love being outside and travelling.
Being at the ocean.
A trainer at the San Diego Zoo
Before moving to Cd’A to become an “office worker,” I spent 12 years as a 911 dispatcher as well as an EMT/firefighter.
My Mom. She has had so many painful things happen in her life and she is still the most kind, loving and accepting person I know. When others could have given up, she persisted and overcame.
I am a horrible dancer. Though with a few drinks in me I think I am AMAZING. 💃
I tend to get hangry after a workout, so the best meals are the ones my husband has waiting for me when I get home!
Don’t give up. It is hard, even for the people who make it look easy! But it will get easier and you will come to love it and look forward to your sessions. You start to form friendships with those around you and to see changes in your body. It makes it all worth it!
